Air con re-gas prices
- Removal of old gas
- System vacuumed and checked for leaks
- Oil and dye added to system
- New gas added and temperature checked

Between the harbour, the seafront and the bridge to Shaldon, Teignmouth fills up with summer visitors, and the steep hills do not help a car that is struggling to stay cool. A working air con makes all the difference, whether you are crawling along the seafront or climbing out of town.
At Automaster we handle air con re-gas for all makes and models. Teignmouth motorists, along with people from Dawlish, Stoke-in-Teignhead, Newton Abbot and Milber, drive to our garage at Longcombe Cross near Totnes.
Why is my car air con blowing warm air?
Often the cause is simply a system that has lost some gas, which happens slowly on most cars, and the drop is so gradual that many drivers only notice when the first hot spell arrives. You might also notice a musty smell, a long wait for the cabin to cool, or a noisy compressor.

What is included when you re-gas a car air con system?
Every re-gas here runs through the same four steps. We remove the old gas. We vacuum the system and check it for leaks. We add oil and dye. Then new gas is added and we check the temperature.
That gets you ready for summer, so the system works as soon as you switch it on. It also means any trouble with the system has a chance to show up during the leak check, rather than a few weeks after the re-gas.
How much is an R134a or R1234yf re-gas?
Prices start from £50 for R134a and from £99 for R1234yf. R134a is the older gas; R1234yf is the newer one, generally found in more recent cars from around 2017 onward.
They are not interchangeable, so check the label under the bonnet or your handbook before you ask for a quote.
Is there a while-you-wait air con service near Teignmouth?
For R134a cars, yes. No booking is needed; you turn up and wait while the re-gas is done. That makes it easy to fit around a Teignmouth day without arranging a lift home.
This does not apply to R1234yf, where we would rather you ask for a quote first.
Do you take cars from Teignmouth?
We do. Our garage sits at Longcombe Cross, Longcombe, near Totnes, and Teignmouth drivers regularly come to Automaster alongside people from Dawlish, Stoke-in-Teignhead, Newton Abbot and Milber.
Call the quote line or use the quote form if you want to check anything before you come, such as which gas your car takes or what the work will cost for your particular vehicle.
Whether you are heading along the seafront or over the bridge to Shaldon, a cold cabin helps. Ask Automaster for a quote or call the quote line.
Questions about air con re-gas in Teignmouth
Why do air con systems need re-gassing?
Refrigerant seeps out slowly over time, even from a healthy system. Eventually there is not enough left to cool the cabin properly.
What if my system is leaking?
A re-gas on a badly leaking system will not last. That is why our service includes vacuuming the system and checking for leaks.
How often should I use my air con?
Using it regularly through the whole year is sensible. Do not leave it switched off for months at a time.
How do I know which gas my car takes?
Look for a label under the bonnet or check the handbook. Newer cars, typically from around 2017, tend to use R1234yf, and older ones R134a.
