Air Con Re-gas in Caton

Which refrigerant does my car take, R134a or R1234yf?

R134a is the older gas. R1234yf is the newer one, fitted to more recent cars, typically from around 2017 onward, though it pays to check your own car. A label under the bonnet or the handbook will tell you.

The two cannot be swapped for each other, and this is why the price differs: from £50 for R134a and from £99 for R1234yf.

If you are unsure, do not guess. Looking under the bonnet for the label, or checking the handbook, takes a minute and saves any mix-up later.

Is there a quick option if I live near Caton?

For an R134a car there is. You do not need to book, you simply turn up and the re-gas is done while you wait. This is for R134a only; for R1234yf, ask for a quote first.

Why is my air con blowing warm?

The usual story is a slow loss of gas, since no system stays perfectly sealed forever. Look out for air that is not cold, a car that is slow to cool, a musty smell, or compressor noise.

If the system is leaking badly, topping it up alone would not last. So the vacuum and leak check comes before the new gas goes in.

Left alone, a system that has lost a little gas can slowly lose more, and the cabin never quite gets cold. Catching it early keeps the job simple.
