South Brent sits at the edge of Dartmoor beside the River Avon, and the A38 makes it a stopping point between Exeter and Plymouth. Plenty of cars pass through with the windows up and the air con running, so it is a place where a weak system gets noticed quickly.

If yours is not performing, Automaster can help. We are an independent garage at Longcombe Cross, near Totnes, working on petrol and diesel cars, and re-gassing air con is one of our main services.

Where can I get my car air con re-gassed near South Brent?

Automaster is at Longcombe Cross, Longcombe, Totnes TQ9 6PL. Drivers from South Brent and the countryside around it come to us, along with people from Ivybridge, Buckfastleigh, Totnes and Modbury.

We have full facilities for air con re-gas and work on all makes and models, so whatever you drive, there is no need to look for a specialist for one brand.

What is included in the re-gas?

The service has four parts. We start by removing the old gas, then vacuum the system and check it for leaks. Oil and dye are added next, and the job finishes with new gas and a temperature check.

Put simply, the system is emptied, tested, topped up with what it needs and then measured, instead of just being pumped full of gas.

What will a re-gas set me back?

Our prices begin at £50 for R134a gas, written as from £50 for R134a, while cars needing new-gas R1234yf start at from £99 for R1234yf. As these are starting points, it is worth asking for a quote that fits your car.

Use the quote form on the site or ring the quote line and we can talk it through.

Is there a quick option for older cars?

There is. An R134a re-gas is a turn-up, while-you-wait job, so you do not have to book. If you are on a run between Exeter and Plymouth and your older car has stopped cooling, that flexibility helps.

Please note the no-booking arrangement is for R134a only, not for R1234yf cars.

How can I tell which gas I have, and why do systems lose it?

R134a is the older refrigerant. R1234yf is the newer one used in more recent cars, typically from around 2017 onward, but do check. A label under the bonnet or your handbook will say, and the two gases cannot be swapped.

Air con systems lose gas slowly over time, which is why performance fades gradually. If there is a bigger leak, a re-gas will not hold, which is the reason the vacuum and leak check comes first. Running the air con regularly all year also helps.

Ask Automaster for a quote using the form, or call the quote line, and get your South Brent car ready for the warm weather.
